    • Description

The console desk from the ILLUSION collection designed by Alain Gilles for Glass Variations is a combination of geometric lines and shapes, mixing two different types of glass and assembled by hand by UV bonding.

For the ILLUSION collection, the designer Alain Gilles has declined consoles in several dimensions and invented with Glass Variations the concept of console desk: a unique furniture piece with multiple functions and facets. Leaning against a wall, it takes the form of an elegant console and in the middle of a room, that of an exceptional office desk.

    Design ...
    Alain Gilles

Alain Gilles designed the ILLUSION collection with a trompe-l’oeil effect: tables, desks and consoles defined by simple, essential geometric shapes, a combination of rectangles and curves. The graphic interplay is inspired by the minimalist “Bauhaus” style from the 1920s.

Alain Gilles and Glass Variations first met at the Collectible Fair in Brussels in spring 2023. They immediately decided to work together, on the basis of Alain’s drawings and ideas. His high standards combined with Glass Variations’ expertise gave birth to this first collection of glass furniture.

After working in the international financial world for 5 years, Alain Gilles went back to studying Industrial design in France. He opened his own studio in Brussels in late 2007 in order to pursue his own dreams and develop his personal approach to product design, furniture design, art direction and scenography. Alain Gilles Studio now collaborates with several international editors including well-known Italian brands. Several of his products have been awarded international prizes and he is also a jury member in many prizes.
